Anxiety to Peace

Where do you find peace in times of anxiety? How do you endure and overcome anxiousness?

There are many aspects of life that provoke anxiety in the best of us, and in the best of times, in this broken world.

The Apostle Paul wrote the church in Philippi, saying, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬, ESV‬‬)

The remedy for anxiety is prayer, petition, and thanksgiving to God. When we make our requests known to God, we receive God’s gift of peace.

God’s gift of peace transcends our limited understanding and preserves our hearts in Christ Jesus.

May we exchange our anxieties for God’s peace as we bring everything to God in prayer, petition, and thanksgiving.

A Collect for Endurance: “Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the Cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
