Confession and Forgiveness
When was the last time you talked honestly with God about your struggles and misdeeds?
Honest confession to God leads to the abundant grace and forgiveness of God.
The Apostle John wrote, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:8-9, ESV).
Deceit and deception towards God leads to distrust and disconnection with God. Honesty and transparency with God leads to truth and transformation through the forgiveness of God.
If we are honest with God and confess our failures and shortcomings to God, we are forgiven by God and restored to a right relationship with God, with ourselves, and with those around us.
When we confess our brokenness and disobedience to God, we are not only forgiven by our faithful God, but we are cleansed from our unrighteousness—we are made right.
May we confess our sins and find forgiveness and restoration in our faithful God.

A Collect For The Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost, (Proper 21): “O merciful Lord, grant to your faithful people pardon and peace, that we may be cleansed from all our sins and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
