Endurance Until Fruitfulness

What is it that we are waiting for? When the Lord comes again, what fruitfulness will he bring with him?

If we wait patiently and endure, fruitful days are ahead of us at the second coming of the Lord.

James, the half brother of Jesus, wrote, “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” (James 5:7-9, ESV).

Patience bears fruit. Endurance has a fruitful reward at the coming of the Lord.

May we establish our hearts to endure in patient waiting—for the coming of the Lord is at hand and fruitfulness will proceed.

A Collect for Endurance: “Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the Cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
