Humility

What does it mean to humble yourself? Have you ever humbled yourself, been humbled, or been brought low? How low can you go? How low do you want to go?

Pride is a pandemic. Humility is rare. However, humility is the high calling for the follower of Jesus. If we want to submit to the high call of God, we must get low in Godly humility.

In his first letter, the Apostle Peter encouraged suffering believers, saying, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.” (1 Peter 5:6, ESV).

Our humble obedience under God leads to God lifting us up in his exaltation. When we get low, God takes us higher.

May we live lives of humility as we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, and may we find ourselves lifted up by God as we get low in humble obedience to him.

A Collect for Grace: “O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this day: Defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that, guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
