Leaping Into The Unknown
How do you move forward without knowing for sure what the outcome might be? How do you make decisions with so many unknowns?
We take leaps of faith into the unknown all the time, sometimes knowingly, and other times unknowingly. Life is filled with the unknown.
Making decisions without a sure—or full understanding of what lays ahead, and taking steps forward when we are uncertain of the outcome—this is acting in faith.
The author of Hebrews defines faith this way, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1, ESV).
We all live by faith to one degree or another. Faith is something we exercise every day. Everyone lives by faith.
As followers of Jesus we put our faith and trust in God and his word. We place our faith in Jesus, his teachings, and what God’s word says about this life.
As the Apostle Paul wrote in his second letter to the Corinthians, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7, ESV).
May we live our lives by faith as we daily leap into the unknown—trusting God with the outcome, because “without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6, ESV).

A Collect For Faith: “Lord Jesus Christ, by your death you took away the sting of death: Grant to us your servants so to follow in faith where you have led the way, that we may at length fall asleep peacefully in you and wake up in your likeness; for your tender mercies’ sake. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
