Prayer is Asking Faithfully

Have you asked God for what you need through prayer? Do you believe God will give you what you asked for?

Prayer is asking faithfully. When we come to God in prayer and ask him faithfully to meet our needs, God hears us and will answer us.

In Mark’s Gospel account, Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24, NIV).

Jesus wants us to ask him for what we need in prayer, and he also wants us to believe that we have received an answer to our prayer. When we ask faithfully, God answers.

Prayer is asking God faithfully.

In Matthew’s gospel account, Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.” (Matthew 21:21, ESV).

Jesus wants his followers to know that God answers faithful prayers. Throughout his teaching and modeling, Jesus taught and demonstrated prayer as asking faithfully. And throughout Jesus’ life and ministry, The Father answered Jesus’ faithful prayers.

May we faithfully ask God for what we need in prayer and expect God to hear our prayer and answer our request with his faithful provision.

In Christ alone, Robbie

A Collect For The Eve of The Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost, (Proper 23): “O God, our refuge and strength, true source of all godliness: Graciously hear the devout prayers of your Church, and grant that those things which we ask faithfully, we may obtain effectually; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
