Shepherded

Do you see your need to be led? How do you need to be led?

The Gospel of Matthew quotes the Prophet Micah, chapter five, verse two, saying, “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’” (Matthew2:6, ESV).

The Prophet Micah foretold the coming of Jesus to lead his people Israel.

While Bethlehem was small and humble, the mighty leader David came from this City of David. And an even greater leader, Jesus, would come from Bethlehem to lead God’s people—to shepherd them.

We all need to be led. We all need to be shepherded. Jesus came to be the Good Shepherd and to lead his people to good pastures and to good life.

May we be shepherded by Jesus all our days and experience all the goodness this Good Shepherd has in store for our lives.

A Collect for Guidance: “Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
