Shining God’s Light
Who has revealed God to you? Who has opened your eyes to God’s love and light?
We all need someone to bear witness to us about who God is and to reveal God to us.
John the Baptist came preparing the way for Jesus and revealing his light to the world. John was a witness to Jesus—the light of life.
The Apostle John wrote, “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.” (John 1:6-8, ESV).
God’s light, revealed to us, leads us to belief. Like John, we are called to bear witness to the light of God—pointing others to the light.
John tells us, “The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.” (John 1:9-11, ESV).
God’s true light has come into the world so that everyone may be illuminated by his light—so that everyone might know God.
While many do not receive God’s light or know him, many others do come to the light of God’s love and become his children.
John tells us, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13, ESV).
May receive the light of God’s love and share the light of God—bearing witness to the light of life as God’s beloved children.
In Christ alone, Robbie
A Collect For Christmas Eve: “O God, you have caused this holy night to shine with the brightness of the true Light: Grant that we, who have known the mystery of that Light on earth, may also enjoy him perfectly in heaven; where with you and the Holy Spirit he lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
