Waiting for God

Is it easy or difficult for you to wait? What is worth waiting for? What are the challenges and the benefits of waiting?

There is a saying that goes, “Some things are worth the wait.” Someone else has said, “Some things cannot be hurried and some things cannot wait.”

Waiting is important and is a necessary skill to develop. Waiting is an essential part of life. Waiting is an essential component in our relationship with others and with God. We must wait.

The Psalmist writes, “Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” (Psalm 27:14, ESV).

It takes strength and courage to wait for the Lord. And when we wait for the Lord, he is faithful and will respond.

May we be strong and take courage as we wait upon our faithful God who will respond out of his love for us.

A Collect for Sabbath Rest: “Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
