What You Know

What do you know you should be doing? Are you doing what you know you should be doing?

When it comes to doing the right thing, we are to do what we know we should be doing. We are not to do the things we know we should not be doing.

When it comes to living well, we are to do what we know is right.

James, the half brother of Jesus, writes this wisdom in his letter, saying, “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” (James 4:17, ESV).

When we fail to do the right thing we know we should do, we are living outside of God’s will and design. We are living in sin.

The antidote to sinful living is living into what we know we are to do.

May we do the right things, which we know to do, as we live for Jesus.

A Collect for Guidance: “Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
