What Your Fruit Says
Can you produce fruit without a connection to Jesus? What does the fruit you produce communicate about who you are and what is important to you? What do you do with the fruit you produce and what does that communicate?
In the fifteenth chapter of the Gospel of John, Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5, ESV).
We are called to produce fruit in our lives. However, without abiding in Jesus—without staying connected with him—we cannot produce fruit in our lives.
God is glorified when we produce fruit for his kingdom. When we produce an ample amount of kingdom fruit, an abundance of fruit, it is evidence that we are Jesus’ disciples.
Jesus said this in John chapter fifteen, verse eight, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” (John 15:8, ESV).
The fruit we produce in our lives illustrates that we are connected to Jesus, and that we are his disciples. We also bring God glory when we produce an abundance of kingdom fruit in our lives.
May we communicate that we are connected disciples of Jesus as we glorify God by producing an abundance of fruit in our lives.
A Collect for Endurance: “Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the Cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
