Breaking Down Dividing Walls
What walls has God broken down so that you might come close to him? What dividing walls has God broken down so that he might be closer to you?
God has broken down all sorts of dividing walls of separation to be closer to his children. God has brought down every barrier to our intimacy with him.
The Apostle Paul wrote the church in Ephesus, saying, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.” (Ephesians 2:13-14, ESV).
God has brought us nearer to him by his own sacrifice. Jesus himself is our peace. God has brought down the dividing wall of hostility between us and God, which is caused by sin.
May we experience deep intimacy with God as we experience the crumbling of diving walls of sin and separation in our lives.
A Collect for the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost, (Proper 11): “O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
