Do it for the Glory

What motivates you to do what you do? Do you understand why you do the work you do? What is your purpose for the vocation you have chosen, and the work you do?

Motivation is important in the quality and the outcomes of our work.

When we begin with why we do something, the purpose of what we do, it shapes how we do what we do, and the effectiveness and purposefulness of what we produce and bring into the world.

The Apostle Paul wrote the church in Corinth about the correct motivation for work, saying, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31, ESV).

Our work is to be done for the glory of God. Everything we do is to be motivated by God’s glory and purposes being brought into our lives and into this world.

We work for the glory of God.

May we do our work, and everything we do, for the glory of God in the world.

A Collect for the Joy in God’s Creation: “O heavenly Father, you have filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (#21., Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
