Do Not Worry

How much time are you wasting away on worrying? What is your anxiety level? Where do you place your worries, your anxieties, and your cares? How do you cope with them?

We all have worries, anxieties, and cares in life.

We can become overwhelmed and paralyzed by our worries, anxieties, and cares of life, or we can bring them to God in trust and prayer and allow God to effectively handle all our worries, anxieties, and cares of life.

The Psalmist writes, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22).

We can trust God with all our cares and we can give them all to him as he sustains us. God will not allow us to be unsettled or broken.

The wisdom of the Proverbs proclaims, “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” (Proverbs 12:25).

We do not need to be weighed down by the anxieties of this life in the face of God’s kindness and God’s good news of salvation and provision for his children. God will carry us through and will cheer us up in the face of our difficulties and challenges.

The Apostle Peter wrote about the cares of the world, saying, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7).

In our brokenness and in our being humbled by our worries, anxieties, and cares of life, God lifts us up. When we cast all our worries, anxieties, and cares of life upon Jesus, he meets us where we are and he cares for us.

May we be comforted as we cast all our worries, our anxieties, and our cares upon Jesus, and as we rejoice along with the Psalmist as we proclaim, “When anxiety was great within me, [God’s] consolation brought me joy.” (Psalm 94:19).

In Christ alone, Robbie

A Prayer For Trustfulness In Times Of Worry And Anxiety: “Most loving Father, you will us to give thanks for all things, to dread nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on the One who cares for us. Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, and grant that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested unto us in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (#80, Book Of Common Prayer, 2019).
