Do That Thing

What do you wish other people would do? What are you doing?

It is easy to be critical and to look at others and wish that they would do things differently. It is more difficult, and more helpful, to do to others what you wish they would do for you.

Jesus taught this truth in Matthew’s gospel account, saying, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12, ESV).

Jesus asserted that the law and the prophets could be summed up in doing for others what you would have them do to you.

May we reap the benefits of being in the will of God as we do for others what we wish they would do for us.

A Collect for Grace: “O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this day: Defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that, guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
