Doing The Faith
How important is putting into action the core beliefs that you have? How essential is putting your faith into practice and doing what you believe? What does it look like to do the faith?
Oftentimes it is easier to believe something than it is to believe it and then to live out our beliefs in our lives through our actions.
God spoke through the Prophet Isaiah saying, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my righteousness be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.’” (Isaiah 56:1-2, ESV).
In anticipation of God’s coming salvation and restoration, and his righteousness to be revealed, we are to live lives of justice and righteousness. When we put our faith into action in this way, we are blessed by God.
God’s word links God’s blessing with the practicing of our faith in our doing, specifically in keeping sabbath rest, and in keeping away from any and all evil. This doing of our faith brings about the blessings of God in our lives.
May we be about doing the faith—putting into practice what we believe, as we receive the blessings of God in our lives.

A Prayer For Endurance: “Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the Cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
