Doing the Work

What is the work God has called you to do? What will you receive as reward for doing the work God has called you to?

As followers of Jesus, we are God’s workers. We are co-laborers with God to produce kingdom fruit as his field. We are co-laborers with God to build God’s kingdom dwelling in the world.

Paul wrote the Corinthian church saying, “He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.” (1 Corinthians 3:8-9, ESV).

No matter what work each of us is called to do, we work together to do the work of God. Each one of us receives payment according to the work we do, because we are God’s workers.

May we do the work God is calling us to do as his fellow workers, and may we receive a just compensation for our labors.

A Collect for Grace: “O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this day: Defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that, guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
