The Peace God Gives

Are you at peace or afraid? Do you have peace or do you need peace?

Fear is the enemy of peace. We cannot be at peace if we are afraid. This broken world offers us more to be afraid of than it does to be at peace over.

God offers to give us the peace we are longing for. The peace God gives is a perfect peace—the peace of Jesus.

In John’s Gospel Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27, ESV).

Because Jesus left us with his peace, we do not need to be troubled or afraid.

May we experience the peace God gives us as we look to him for comfort.

A Collect for Peace: “O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
