Established Steps

What are your plans for this week? What are your plans for this year? What are your plans for your life? How do you expect to accomplish all that you are setting out to do?

It is good to make plans. Having aspirations and setting goals is a good thing. However, without God, our plans are futile. We need God. It is God who establishes our steps.

The wise Proverb says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9, ESV).

We can make our plans, but it is God who makes our way.

May we trust God with our lives as we make our plans, trusting that God will establish our way before us.

A Prayer for the Sixth Sunday of Epiphany, or Septuagesima: “Almighty God, look mercifully upon your people, that by your great goodness they may be governed and preserved evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
