Forgiven
How bad is your brokenness and error? Do you feel like you are beyond the grace and forgiveness of God? What is the extent of your need to be forgiven?
No one is outside of the scope of God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness. No matter what you have done, no matter who you are, no matter what you said, and no matter what you left undone, God is ready to give you his forgiveness.
The Apostle Paul wrote the church in Rome with this encouragement, saying, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, ESV).
It is not because of your fault that you can not be forgiven. It is because of your fault that God can and will forgive you. Sin is the prerequisite for God’s forgiveness. God cannot meet a need that you do not have—and you do have the need for forgiveness.
May we experience the lavish love God that has for us in his forgiveness—through his death on the cross for our sins.
A Collect for Endurance: “Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the Cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
