God’s Guidance And Leading

How do you determine what to do and which way to go in life? Where do you get your guidance? How do you experience being led?

We all need wisdom and direction in our lives. Each and every day, we need guidance for where we go and for what we do. We need God’s leading in our decision making.

If we seek God through reading his word and through prayer—through listening to God, we can receive the guidance and the leading we need from God.

God spoke through the Prophet Isaiah, saying, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” (Isaiah 30:21, NIV).

God promises to guide us along our way as we listen to God as we journey through life and he directs us with his wisdom as we go.

As we make plans and live our lives, God guides us and leads us and establishes our steps along the way.

As the wisdom of the Proverbs says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9, NIV).

May we live our lives with the guidance and the leadership we need as we listen to God’s voice, and as God establishes our steps along the way, and may we hear the voice of God assuring us with these words: “This is the way; walk in it.”

A Prayer For Guidance: “Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
