Guided By God’s Spirit
How are you guided through this life? Where do you get your direction and guidance from? How are you sure of which way to go?
We are all guided along life’s path through different means. It is God’s guidance that should ultimately guide the follower of Jesus. We need to be guided by God’s Spirit.
The Apostle Paul wrote the church in Rome, saying, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14).
We know that we are God’s children when we are being led by God’s Spirit.
In John’s Gospel, Jesus promised, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” (John 16:13).
Because we have God’s Spirit, we can be guided into all truth and we can discern the leading and direction of God—we can navigate the things that are to come.
May we be guided by God’s Spirit—guided into all truth—as God’s children and discern the will and direction of God in our lives.
A Collect For Guidance: “Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
