Life in Jesus
Where does life come from? To whom does life belong?
God is the author of life. All life comes from God and God sustains all life. Life is God’s idea. It is God who gives life and instructs us how to live.
The Apostle John begins his gospel account with Jesus and his creation of all things—the origin of life. John writes, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:1-5, ESV).
Jesus is in the beginning before all things and Jesus created all things and gives life. Life and all things were created by Jesus.
It is in Jesus that we have God’s light of life. When God gives us the light of life, no darkness or death will ever overcome his life, because it is the light of all humanity.
May we see God as the author of life, that all life is a gift from God who created it and blessed us with it, and may we walk in the light of God’s life all our days.
A Prayer for Life: “Father and maker of all, you adorn all creation with splendor and beauty, and fashion human lives in your image and likeness. Awaken in every heart reverence for the work of your hands, and renew among your people a readiness to nurture and sustain your precious gift of life. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.” (https://www.familyandsanctityoflife.org/intercessions-for...)
