Submit and Resist

Are you aware of what you are submitting to in your life? What are the things that you are resisting?

We are faced with constant choices of submission and resistance in life.

As followers of Jesus we are called to submit to him in all things. We are also called to resist the enemy, the devil, who seeks to kill, to steal, and to destroy life (John 10:10).

James, the half brother of Jesus, wrote, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7, ESV).

When we submit to God, he draws near to us and gives us his life. When we resist the devil, he and his evil work of death will flee from us.

May we submit to God and resist the devil at all times and in every circumstance of life as we live for him.

A Collect for Endurance: “Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the Cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
