Living Through Obedience

What causes the most trouble in your life? Is it obedience or is it disobedience that produces more hardship in your life?

Disobedience to God’s law and intended design almost always brings about discord.

God spoke to his people about living through obedience through the Prophet Ezekiel, saying, “I gave them My statutes and informed them of My ordinances, by which, if a man observes them, he will live.” (Ezekiel 20:11).

If we live in obedience to God’s statutes and ordinances, we will truly live life fully. Where disobedience brings hardship, difficulties, heartbreak, disintegration, and death—obedience brings about an easier path, less obstacles and challenges, integration, and life.

God speaks of obedience in the wisdom of the Proverbs saying, “Keep my commandments and live, And my teaching as the apple of your eye.” (Proverbs 7:2).

When we follow the commandments of God and his teachings we have the life God intends.

May we live fruitful and integrated lives through obedience to God’s statutes, ordinances, commandments, and teachings—and may we find ourselves truly living as a result of observing God’s ways.

A Collect For The Renewal Of Life: “O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
