Troubles

What do you do to deal with your troubles? How do you manage trouble? How do you engage, or disengage, the dangers of this life?

This world is filled with troubles and difficulties. This life is hard.

God gives us what we need to endure life’s troubles and the dangers of this life.

The Apostle Paul addressed this issue of hardship with the church in Corinth when he wrote, “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8).

No matter what we are going through, God is with us and for us.

There is no trouble or difficulty that Jesus has not overcome or will not overcome in this life.

When we are hard pressed, God helps us escape the pressure.

When we are feeling crushed, God lifts the heavy load off our shoulders.

When we are confused, God gives us clarity.

When we are in despair, God gives us hope.

When we are persecuted, God blesses us and supports us in our time of need.

When we are feeling alone and abandoned, God is with us and will never leaves us.

When we are embattled and our enemies surround us, God fights for us, defeats our enemies, and we are not defeated.

When troubles come, God is with us and God will help us to overcome them.

May we have confidence in Jesus in the face of all our troubles and our difficulties, being confident that, “In this world we will have trouble. But we can take heart! Because, Jesus has overcome the world.” (John 16:33).

A Collect For Aid Against Perils: “Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord; and by your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
