Need and Good Work

What is the relationship between need and good work? Do you have all you need? Are you doing good work?

God provides for us and blesses us so that we can be overflowing in every kind of good work.

The Apostle Paul wrote the Church in Corinth saying, “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8, NIV).

Any time is a good time to do every kind of good work. God desires to bless us to be a blessing to others and to help provide for and meet the need of those who are without.

Our work matters to God. God’s abundant blessing is to provide opportunity for us to abound in doing good work.

As the Psalmist says, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.” (Psalm 90:17, NIV).

May we leverage the provision and blessing of God to do good work in the world.

In Christ alone, Robbie

A Prayer For Labor Day: “Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” (#25, Book of Common Prayer, 1979).
