Seeking God
Do you often find what you are seeking?
Most of us find what we are seeking.
The problem is, we are often seeking the wrong things, and we find them.
We find what we do not need, and we find what is not good for us, because we are looking in the wrong places, or we are looking for the wrong things.
We get what we are looking for, so it matters what we seek, and it matters where we seek.
The Apostle Paul wrote the Colossian church, saying, “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1, ESV).
As followers of Jesus, we are to seek God and the things that are of God. Since we are raised with Jesus, we are to look for our lives in him as we seek the things that are above.
May we find God and his life for us as we seek him and the things that are above.
A Prayer of the Conversion of Paul the Apostle: “O God, by the preaching of your apostle Paul you have caused the light of the Gospel to shine throughout the world: Grant, we pray, that having his wonderful conversion in remembrance, we may show ourselves thankful to you by following his holy teaching; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
