What deep joys does the resurrection bring into your awareness and into your life?

The fact that death has been defeated by Jesus’ resurrection brings us great hope in the face of deep fear, desperation, pain, and loss due to sin and death, and due to living in the valley of the shadow of death.

We all need hope in the face of hopelessness. We all need light in the midst of our darkness. We all need resurrection life in the face of a world filled with an abundance of death.

The Apostle Peter, an eye witness of the resurrected Jesus, wrote, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3).

In this broken and fallen world filled with sin and death, we need new birth into the living hope through the resurrection of Christ from the dead. We need Jesus’ resurrection life to fill our dead lives with the glory of his resurrection from the dead.

May we be partakers of all the joys of the resurrection of Jesus, and may we be filled with living hope through his resurrection.

A Collect For Easter Week: “Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that we who celebrate with reverence the Paschal feast may be made worthy to attain to everlasting joys; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
