The Narrow Way
How wide is the way you are traveling? Are you able to navigate the narrow way?
There are paths that are wide and there is a way that is narrow. The wider path leads to destruction. The narrow way is difficult and leads to life.
In Matthew’s Gospel Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:13-14, ESV).
Not many enter the narrow gate and the difficult way which leads to life. Few travel the narrow way. Unfortunately, multitudes are traveling the wide and easy way that leads to destruction and they journey to their demise.
May we number ourselves with the few as we travel through the narrow gate and the difficult path which leads us to the life that God has for us.
A Collect for Sabbath Rest: “Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
