Waiting On The Lord
Do you ever find yourself being impatient? What is worth waiting for? What are you currently waiting for?
Many of us are are currently waiting on something. Many of us are waiting for God to move or act on a specific need or desire in our life. However, most of us do not like to wait—and we especially do not like waiting for God.
The Psalmist writes, “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.” (Psalm 130:5-8, ESV).
Waiting for God is hope filled because God is faithful and true to his word.
As the night watchman on a city wall can count on the breaking of a new day, we can be confident of God’s appearance and faithfulness. We can count on our hope in God.
God’s persistent and consistent love is as faithful as the rising sun. In God, we have bountiful salvation and rescue. In God we have the forgiveness of all our sin.
May we be encouraged and hopeful as we wait on the Lord our God who is loyal and true in his love for us and in his forgiveness.
A Collect For The Presence Of Christ: “Lord Jesus, stay with us, for evening is at hand and the day is past; be our companion in the way, kindle our hearts, and awaken hope, that we may know you as you are revealed in Scripture and the breaking of bread. Grant this for the sake of your love. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
