Wondrous Things

How blessed are we to know and experience all the wondrous things of God throughout all the earth?

Our God is blessed because he alone does wondrous things and his name is blessed and glorious. The entire earth is filled with God’s glory.

The Psalmist, most likely David’s son King Solomon, wrote, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen! The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.” (Psalms 72:18-20, ESV).

David had anticipated all God would do and he prayed and longed for the Messiah to bring about his everlasting kingdom through a shoot from the stump of his father Jesse’s lineage.

May we behold the wondrous things of God as we look to the glory of God which fills the earth and may we bless his glorious name forever.

A Collect for Sabbath Rest: “Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
