Asking for Wisdom

What difference does wisdom make in your life? When was the last time you asked God to give you wisdom?

We need wisdom. A wise decision can mean the difference between life and death. The pursuit of wisdom is a noble and fruitful pursuit in our lives.

The New Testament author, and half brother of Jesus, James, wrote, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5, ESV).

We can have wisdom simply by asking God for it. God is a generous giver of wisdom. When we ask God for the wisdom we need, we receive an abundance of wisdom for our lives.

May we seek God for the wisdom we need and receive an abundance of wisdom to live fruitfully for him.

A Collect for Rogation Day (Wednesday): “Almighty God, Lord of heaven and earth: We humbly pray that your gracious providence may give and preserve to our use the harvests of the land and of the seas, and may prosper all who labor to gather them, that we, who are constantly receiving good things from your hand, may always give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
