Confession

When is the last time you confessed your sins to another person? When was the last time you were prayed for and healed?

As followers of Jesus, we are called to confess our sins to God and to one another and to pray for one another for our healing.

James, the half brother of Jesus, wrote, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (James 5:16, ESV).

Confession and prayer is powerful and brings about the healing we need.

May we confess our sins to God and to one another and go to God in prayer for one another so that we may be healed.

A Prayer from the Reconciliation of the Penitents: “I confess to Almighty God, to his Church, and to you, that I have sinned by my own fault in thought, word, and deed, in things done and left undone; especially __________. For these and all other sins that I cannot now remember, I am truly sorry. I pray God to have mercy on me. I firmly intend amendment of life, and I humbly beg forgiveness of God and his Church, and ask you for counsel, direction, and absolution.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
