What is your dream home? What place do you long for and dream to dwell?

Our God is a master builder who has created everything by the word of his mouth. God has designed and has created all things.

Jesus told his disciples, in John chapter fourteen, that he was going to prepare a place for them, so that they could be where he is (John 14:1-6).

The author of Hebrews describes Abraham’s faith and his desire for the kingdom of God in this way: “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.” (Hebrews 11:8-10, ESV).

We are created for a kingdom that is not of this world. While this creation faintly resembles what God planned, because it is fallen we are left homesick. Like Abraham we are “looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.”

There will come a time when Jesus will “make all things new” and we will be “with him in paradise.”

Our God is a great builder and he is preparing a place for us.

May we seek God and his kingdom and be patient as we long for God to bring about his divine dwelling “on earth as it is in heaven”.

A Prayer For Christ To Be Formed In Us: “Lord Jesus, Master Carpenter of Nazareth, on the Cross through wood and nails you wrought our full salvation: Wield well your tools in this, your workshop, that we who come to you rough-hewn may be fashioned into a truer beauty by your hand; who with the Father and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, world without end. Amen.” (#71, Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
