Storing Up God’s Word
What are you storing up in your heart?
It matters what we treasure and store up in our hearts. If we store up God’s word in our hearts, we can keep our way pure.
When we seek God and his word with all that we are, we will know God and his word, we will not stray from God and his word, and we will not disobey God’s commandments.
When we store up God’s word in our hearts, it enables us to keep away from sin in our lives.
The Psalmist writes, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes!” (Psalm 119:9-12, ESV).
May we pray along with the Psalmist, “Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes!”, and may we store up God’s word in our hearts so that we do not sin against God.

A Prayer For Inner Renewal Through The Word: “Gracious God and most merciful Father, you have granted us the rich and precious jewel of your holy Word: Assist us with your Spirit, that the same Word may be written in our hearts to our everlasting comfort, to reform us, to renew us according to your own image, to build us up and edify us into the perfect dwelling place of your Christ, sanctifying and increasing in us all heavenly virtues; grant this, O heavenly Father, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.” (#70, Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
