God’s Protection From Danger

What dangers do you fear in your life? What evil do you face that makes you afraid?

In the middle of a fallen world, we face evil and dangers of all kind. We can become fearful in the face of the perils of life.

The Psalmist writes of God’s presence and protection in the face of danger, saying, “You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day.” (Psalm 91:5).

The assurance we have from God removes hopelessness from our days and nights. God will remove our nightly terrors and the daily dangers we face.

May we trust in God’s presence and protection in the face of the dangers of life, and may the Lord guard our going out and our coming in from this time forth and forever. (Psalm 121:8).

A Collect For Aid Against Perils: “Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord; and by your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
