Help in Weakness

When you are weak, where do you find the help you need? How do you pray in your brokenness and weakness when you do not have the words to say?

We cannot overcome adversity on our own. We need help when we are too weak to go at life on our own. When we are broken and weak and our words fail us, we need God to understand, to hear us, and to intercede on our behalf.

The Apostle Paul wrote the believers in Rome, saying, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27, ESV).

God’s Spirit helps us in our weakness and brokenness. When we do not have the words to say and do not know how to pray, God understands, God hears us, and God answers our cry.

God always comes through for his children according to his good will.

May we find the help we need in our weakness as we trust in God and his Spirit’s work in our lives to bring about his good will.

A Collect for the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 11): “O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
