Life By The Spirit
How are you living? According to what standard or default do you live?
We all live according to some default rule of life, a standard of life, or a mode of life—either consciously or unconsciously.
We can live according to this natural world and our physical body, or we can live according to the supernatural—we can live by the Spirit.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Rome, saying, “If you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” (Romans 8:13-14, ESV).
There is a way to live which leads to death and there is a way to live which leads to life.
When we choose to be led by the Spirit of God, we do not walk according to the flesh and
the world’s ways, we walk according to God’s Spirit and we receive, and walk in, the life the Spirit gives us—we live in the Spirit.
When we live according to the Spirit of God, we are children of the living God. And as children of the living God—we live.
May we walk by the Spirit of God, and live by the Spirit of God, as children of God.

A Collect For Strength To Await Christ’s Return: “O God our King, by the resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ on the first day of the week, you conquered sin, put death to flight, and gave us the hope of everlasting life: Redeem all our days by this victory; forgive our sins, banish our fears, make us bold to praise you and to do your will; and steel us to wait for the consummation of your kingdom on the last great Day; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 3019).
