Power From On High

In what ways do you need to be empowered? Where do you get your power from? What is the meaning and the purpose of the power you have been given?

We all need empowerment that comes from outside of ourselves and our own capabilities. We need God’s supernatural power and presence to be with us through his Holy Spirit.

Jesus spoke to his disciples in Luke’s Acts of the Apostles, saying, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, ESV).

We receive God’s power when God’s Holy Spirit comes upon us, and God gives us his power for his purposes. We are empowered to bear witness to Jesus throughout all the earth.

May we receive God’s power through his Holy Spirit within us so that we may fulfill his purposes throughout all the earth.

Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
