Life in the Spirit
Do you know you have life in the Spirit? Do you know you are free to live?
We have life and freedom in the Spirit of God. God has set us free from sin and death so that we can live fully in him.
The Apostle Paul wrote the church in Rome, saying, “For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2, ESV).
God’s Spirit of life has set us free in Jesus from sin and death. We are free to live!
Paul goes on to say to the Roman church, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” (Romans 8:5-6, ESV).
We are free from sin and death and we are called to live in the Spirit. We are to set our minds on God and his kingdom. We are to be Spirit minded and live in the Spirit. And when we live in the Spirit, we will have God’s life and peace.
May we choose to live our lives in the Spirit and experience God’s life and peace.
A Collect for the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost: “Grant us, O Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who can do no good thing apart from you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
