No Hurt and No Destruction
What would the world look like without any more hurt or destruction? What would our lives look and be like without any more hurt or destruction?
This broken world is filled with hurt and destruction. We long for the hope and the peace that only God can bring at his glorious arrival.
God spoke through the Prophet Isaiah saying, “They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:9, ESV).
Isaiah describes this time as a time when “The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.” (Isaiah 11:6-8, ESV).
When Jesus returns again he will fulfill this prophecy and restore all things to himself. In the restoration of all things we will receive the hope we are seeking. There will be perfect peace on the earth and there will be no more hurt or destruction.
May we rest in this certain hope of the coming peace that Jesus will bring to all the earth at his advent.
A Collect for Peace: “O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
