Serve

When was the last time you were served? How was that experience? When was the last time you served? How did serving effect you and those whom you served?

We are all served by someone at some point in our lives. Most of us are served by someone daily. Serving is essential to life. We are all served. And as followers of Jesus, we are all called to serve God and to serve others.

The Apostle Peter wrote, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11, ESV).

We are called to serve one another. As we serve one another we are being good stewards of God and his resources which he has entrusted to us for his purposes.

We are empowered by God to be able to serve others. God supplies us with all the strength we need to serve him and to serve others.

Serving God and serving others accomplishes so much good for ourselves, for others, and for the kingdom of God. However, the main reason we serve, our ultimate motivation and end, is “in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”

May we serve God and his kingdom well, may we steward God’s resources by serving in God’s strength, so that God is glorified through Jesus in our serving—“To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

In Christ alone, Robbie

A Prayer For Those Who Serve Others: “O Lord our heavenly Father, whose blessed Son came not to be served, but to serve: We ask you to bless all who, following in his steps, give themselves to the service of others especially those who are laboring in this time of plague; endue them with wisdom, patience, and courage, that they may strengthen the weak and raise up those who fall, and, being inspired by your love, may worthily minister to the suffering, the friendless, and the needy; for the sake of him who laid down his life for us, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.”

(#45, Book Of Common Prayer, 2019).
