When we decide to follow Jesus and identify with his purpose and life for us, what changes? Who are we in Jesus? How do we identify ourselves in light of Jesus?

When we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord, we take off our old nature and we put on his his nature, character, and attributes. We clothe ourselves with Jesus. Our new identity is the identity of Jesus.

Paul instructed the Galatian church, saying, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:27-28, ESV).

As followers of Jesus, we are all one. Our identity is his identity. We are no longer our own. We have died to ourselves and our life is hidden with God in Jesus. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. We are one in Jesus.

May we put off our old selves and put on Jesus, and may we find our identity and unity in Jesus—as brothers and sisters of God.

In Christ alone, Robbie

A Collect For Mission: “O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (Book of Common Prayer, 2019).
